Recalling the best moments of a memorable weekend

The return of the Turkish Grand Prix proved to be a wildcard Formula 1 race that truly challenged every team and driver up and down the grid, with BWT Racing Point F1 Team proving its mettle.

From the tricky early laps on Friday in practice to celebrations on Saturday and champagne on Sunday, here’s the highlights of a great weekend.

1. Lance makes history

Few would have expected the Qualifying finale that the paddock and fans were treated to on Saturday and no one was happier than Lance!

The thrilling battle for pole between Lance, Checo and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen had everyone on the edge of their seat.

But Lance’s 1.47.765 lap time was almost three tenths clear of second – underlining his stunning performance.

2. Double in Pink

With morning rain and a challenging track surface, the start was a real unknown – but it was certainly set to be exciting!

Lance and Checo rose to the challenge superbly, Lance bolting clear through the opening turns and Checo jumping Verstappen to make it into P2.

They would hold onto the 1-2 for the first 10 laps and cycled back into a 1-2 after the opening pitstops to ensure no other team led more laps than Racing Point.

Following the race, the team discovered damage to the underside of Lance's front wing that was a significant contributor to the graining issues that he experienced in the second and third stints.

3. Checo’s Climactic Charge

Checo secured P2 just metres from the flag after a last-lap battle with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

Having held P2 throughout the final phase of the race, P3 would’ve been cruel, and Checo was able to defend strongly from Leclerc.

Checo then seized upon Leclerc running wide while attempting an overtake to cut back in front for P2.

4. A New Record

And that move by Checo secured a piece of team history! Checo’s drive to P2 resulted in the best result of the Racing Point era and marked its second podium overall.

After Lance secured the team’s first pole position, Turkey will go down as one of the most memorable Team Silverstone weekends!

5. Back into P3

With Checo’s podium finish and Lance gaining further points in P9, Racing Point is back into P3 in the Constructors’ Championship with only three races remaining.

Going into the triple-header in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, there’s even more motivation to hold onto the position and the team will give it everything to achieve its goals.
